Dolphin Tour

I received a call a few months ago from Don to look at his hard disk that was full.  During the visit, I told Don about my trip with my Dad last June into the country of Costa Rica.

Don was intrigued and wanted to know more.  So I told him about the trip and what we experienced. From the heat to the beautiful wildlife.  He loved it.   So Don is planning a trip for the month of December 2016.   Don has asked many questions and for helpful hints during his travels.  I felt this would be a great way to introduce Infocus.Camera and help others that are on there way to adventure.

Don is interested in seeing the wildlife, volcanoes and the beaches.  The variety of animal life is amazing in Costa Rica.  I learned after a couple days to walk slow and look everywhere as you walked.  I would say you can pick a spot and stay there for 20 minutes and find some sort of wild life.  Dad had a 2 foot iguana come up to him at the pool and just hang out for a while. I found macaws and sloth within a block of our Hotel. What does all of this mean?

  • 1) Have your camera ready at all times.
  • 2) Make sure you have extra batteries with you
  • 3) Have extra memory cards or film with you.
  • 4) take a long lens if you have it, 200-300 mm for those times you find a Sloth in Manuel Antonio Park.
  • 5) take a good water bottle and keep it full and cold, it’s hot and you will walk a lot, for me 8-10 miles in a day.
  • 6) Brush up on your Spanish!

You don’t want to miss the great photo opportunities.  I carry around 50 lbs of camera gear through the airport and about 25 when I’m exploring.   You can get by with a fraction of that.  Just take your camera, batteries, charger, plenty of memory or film and start looking.  Spend a few bucks on a small tripod to hold the camera or phone if you want a selfie or a group photo.
